Turck builds the sensing and connectivity layer of a machine: proximity sensors, fieldbus and IO-Link modules, interface technology, and the cordsets that tie them together. The company is German, family-owned, and unusually strong in the parts of a plant that are wet, hot or full of weld spatter.

Proximity sensing covers inductive, capacitive and magnetic types. Inductive is the default for metal targets. Capacitive detects non-metallic material and can sense through a container wall, which is what makes it useful for level detection on hoppers and tanks without breaking into the vessel.

Environmental rating usually decides the choice more than sensing range does. Weld-field immunity, washdown ratings and chemical resistance are what separate a sensor that survives a year from one replaced every quarter, and they are worth specifying deliberately rather than discovering.

The fieldbus and IO-Link side is where the labor savings are. A machine-mounted I/O block gathers signals at the machine and carries them back over one network cable instead of a pair of wires per device running to a cabinet. That cuts installation time, cabinet size, and the number of terminations available to fail.

IO-Link adds parameter and diagnostic data on the same connection, so a device can report its own health and a replacement can be configured automatically. Turck supports PROFINET, EtherNet/IP and EtherCAT across the range.

Turck parts are specified by an ident number that fixes the sensing characteristics and the connection type. Send it and we quote directly.

We source Turck sensors, I/O modules and connectivity for North American plants alongside the drives, valves and hydraulics we already supply.

Typical Applications

  • Machine position and proximity sensing
  • Level detection through container walls
  • Weld cell and washdown environments
  • Machine-mounted fieldbus I/O
  • IO-Link master and device networks
  • Cabinet reduction and rewiring projects

Turck: Common Questions

Yes. Send the ident number and we will quote availability and lead time.

Capacitive. It will also sense material through a thin container wall, which makes it useful for level detection without penetrating the vessel.

Weld-field immune inductive sensors with a suitable coating. Standard sensors false-trigger in the field around a weld gun and their faces take spatter damage.

Yes. Tell us the network protocol, channel count and protection rating, or send the ident number for a like-for-like replacement.

We source the range to order, including moulded cordsets, junction boxes and IO-Link masters. Send the connector type, length and rating.
