Request a QuoteTemperature is the most measured variable in process plant and the one most often measured badly. Thermocouples are cheap, fast and wide-range but drift and need cold junction compensation. RTDs, typically Pt100 or Pt1000, are more accurate and more stable but slower and more expensive.
Response time is a function of the thermowell more than the sensor. A correctly specified sensor in an oversized well with an air gap will read a temperature that is real but late, which on a fast loop is indistinguishable from a control problem.
