Request a QuoteA freewheel transmits torque in one direction and overruns in the other. That simple behavior does three different jobs depending on how it is installed: backstop, overrunning clutch, or indexing drive.
As a backstop it prevents a conveyor or pump from reversing under load when the drive stops, which is a safety function as much as a mechanical one. As an overrunning clutch it lets a driven shaft coast faster than its drive. As an indexer it converts oscillating motion into stepped rotation.
Sizing follows the torque, the speed in the overrunning direction, and whether the unit is sprag or roller type. We source GMN freewheels against the designation.
