Brandenburger's thermal insulation boards sit directly inside a heated press's clamping-force path. Unlike a generic insulator, they're engineered to hold their thickness and insulating value under sustained heat and pressure, not just resist heat passively.

The line spans a wide temperature range across three families. BRA-GLA®, KV®, and XGD® grades for general heated-press and tooling service (200–280 °C long-term); GL® mica boards for higher continuous temperatures (400–500 °C); and BRA-BOARD® silicate boards for the highest continuous temperatures (500–1,000 °C), where compressive strength matters less than pure heat resistance. S 4000® and S 4000 HT® are the classic load-bearing glass-fiber laminate grades this line grew from.

A few older type-codes we've sourced before (BRA-GLA N, BRA-GLA KA, BRA-GLA MP, BRA-BOARD HT175, BRA-FLEX) no longer appear on Brandenburger's current site. They may have been renamed or consolidated into the grades below. We can still source them on request; tell us the code and application and we'll confirm the current equivalent.

Brandenburger Thermal Insulation Material: Common Questions

It follows temperature and load. BRA-GLA laminates and KV 3 suit high-pressure heat protection, BRA-BOARD silicate boards suit structural insulation, and GL-M and GL-P mica grades take the highest continuous temperatures. Send the operating temperature and platen size.

Yes. The BRA-BOARD and related grades are asbestos-free silicate and magnesium-silicate materials, which matters for performance and for worker-safety compliance.

Yes. Plates are supplied cut and machined to your platen size and hole pattern. Send the dimensions or the machine nameplate.

The grade if you know it, the plate size and thickness, the hole pattern, and the operating temperature and pressure.
